University of Michigan has developed an excellent Animal Diversity Web – a database of animal natural history, taxonomy etc. Being considered as an encyclopedia or a virtual Museum or science learning tool, it has thousands of images, sound recordings, movies and specimens. However, they advise some caution in following the authenticity of the text accompanies the images because they are contributed by students of UoM. If you have something to contribute to the database, Oh, great! you are welcome.
